Elizabeth Conolly
Committee of Management
Years on Board. 3

Elizabeth is currently coordinating a team of people committed to the notion of providing a balanced awareness of the history of our area. This working group is establishing ‘Art of Place’; an Aboriginal cultural project and educational centre for local schools and visitors to Burrinja. This project has a unique voice; a voice that is permeated with the stories of the descendants of those original communities whose homelands are around Melbourne. Art of Place explores the cultures of the Kulin Nation through their connections to country and art, acknowledging that Burrinja stands on Wurundgeri land.
Elizabeth has been an enthusiastic volunteer at Burrinja for the past few years, successfully demonstrating her resolution to reduce Burrinja’s environmental footprint. Three years ago she established a fully audited sustainability program for Burrinja which has continued to this day.
She is a strong advocate of the Community Arts and celebrates its integral role within the community and beyond.
Elizabeth is currently majoring in Aboriginal Studies - Arts at Monash University.

For Councillor Samantha Dunn there’s no other place to live but the hills. Samantha has lived in the hills since she was eight years old and feels a profound connection with the area.

Samantha is passionate about the Shire’s fantastic natural environment. She believes we need to ease the pressures on the natural environment, such as pollution and weed invasion, and find ways to preserve our forests.

Top priority for Samantha’s term on Council is reducing greenhouse emissions through improved burning off practices and moving toward regular green waste collections. Samantha would also like to see the Shire demonstrating sustainability through making council offices more energy and waste efficient, using sustainable materials and exploring alternative technologies.

When Samantha shows off the best of the Shire she takes visitors to Sherbrooke Forest and the Yarra Valley or a trip on Puffing Billy. Outside of her working life Samantha enjoys music, art, gardening and photography.

She also loves being an involved member of her local community.

Cr Samantha Dunn represents Council on the following groups:
Belgrave Region Action Group, Birdsland Environment Education Centre Management Advisory Committee, Tree Task Force, Environmental Reference Group (substitute)
