Burrinja is currently undergoing major redevelopment to build a new 400 Seat Theatre. Due to building works, the only hire venue available until mid 2011 is the 80 seat Burrinja Cafe. Burrinja Gallery remains open and free to the public.

This page will be updated with new Venue Hire information later in 2010, when hire rates and bookings for the new theatre, as well as rehearsal, workshop and access gallery spaces will be available for mid 2011 onward.

The Performance Space
Seats up to 150 people in a flat floor space with excellent stage, lighting, digital projection and sound facilities. Upgraded seating and air-conditioning (2007)

Because we’re staffed out of hours, we can provide options such as gallery access for your guests to make their visit extra special. (Note that pre-booking & conditions apply to gallery entry).

Take advantage of our fabulous collection of indigenous art and special touring exhibitions when at Burrinja. Located in the foyer Jarmbi Gallery and the beautiful Burrinja Gallery, it is amazing the difference an art experience can make to your guests.

The Jarmbi Gallery is always accessible at no charge – and features an ever changing exhibition program of local contemporary artists. For exhibition info click here

Workshops & Tours – Professional Development
Burrinja can provide a range of options for your guests to participate in cultural learning tours and hands-on workshops with indigenous artists; from a self guided wander through the inspirational artwork, to a tour and discussion of the indigenous collection and even hands-on workshops. We can also tailor a package to provide professional development for your staff based on indigenous cultural activities.

A tour of the gallery's collection includes in depth discussion of the stories and culture behind the paintings, the artists and their lands, as well as the different techniques used.

If you really want something different, consider a workshop with an indigenous artist, who will take your group through creating art with traditional symbols and totems, explaining the stories and meanings behind them, as well as participating in hand stenciling and creating brushes and ochre with traditional materials.

Exhibition Venue Hire
Jarmbi Gallery is available for exhibitions. Exhibition openings can be fully catered and appointments for special viewings may be made through the Centre. Inquire about exhibition terms and conditions.

Cafe - Live Music - Functions
Famous for great music and dinner shows, Burrinja cafe offers a unique intimate atmosphere, with a fabulous line up of Australian and international musicians. Burrinja Café is now Open Seven Days a week, from 10am to 5pm, as well as special events.
