From March 1 to April 5, Matson Drive from Glenfern Road through to the lower level carpark of Burrinja will be temporarily closed to through traffic.
Burrinja patrons can access Matson Drive via Glenfern Avenue and Palmer Street. Parking is available in the lower off-street car park.

2010 is delivering a visual feast of arts at Burrinja, with feature exhibitions by indigenous and contemporary artists from across Australia in Burrinja gallery and an engaging program of local contemporary artists in the Jarmbi Gallery.

This new photographic exhibition from tiffaney bishop & the SCUM PUPS compassionately considers a community of young people living in and around Upwey - a community that is often criticised for their anti-social behaviour.

NOAH SYMONS
Paintings, Drawings and Studies 2005-2009
13 January - 28 February 2010
The work in this exhibition revolves around a fascination with the figurative and the environment; an exploration into color and form, which spans the last 4 years.
Noah Symons recently completed a degree in Fine Art at RMIT. As well as being a visual artist, he is also a musician who performs under the moniker "Great Earthquake". In his musical performances, he utilizes a number of instruments to create soundscapes, organically built up in time, with a strong emphasis on rhythm.
The opening event for this exhibition is at 6:30pm on Wednesday 13th January in the Burrinja Cafe and will include a live musical performance from Noah Symons as 'Great Earthquake' – all welcome.

a satellite of the worldwide HYPERBOLIC CROCHET CORAL REEF PROJECT

Upwey Billy Cart Races
Sunday February 28
Yes, the fast-paced Upwey family event returns for another year of thrills and spills in the Main St of Upwey. Burrinja is a key sponsor and supporter in 2010 of this community event, which is a great family day out with lots of opportunities to get involved. You can enter your own billy carts, with many categories to choose from.
Entries close on Monday February 22nd, so get building, repairing or upgrading your billy cart and get your entry form completed to ensure you don't miss out. If you are able help out and offer some of your time during race day to assist with areas in running of the event, please contact Mark Addison <Link this to mark@upwey.com > Your help will be greatly appreciated.

RANGES BURRINJA FOLK CLUB presents...
KAZBAND
This fiery instrumental trio performs the music Karen Kyriakou and tradiitonal tunes in the style of Eastern European dance traditions. Kazband has exhausted audiences with their energetic stage antics and hilarious stories, and of course, fabulous music. Expect to be entertained with music full of Klezmer and Gypsy flavours.

This outrageous social satire sold out its premiere Melbourne season and went on to win the 2004 Green Room Award for Best Original Songs in Cabaret. Now it's our turn to enjoy this crazy romp.
Vaudeville X is a merciless lampooning, through music and song, of Australian society. Three immaculate musical theatre performers conduct a cultural autopsy on intellectuals, right-and left-wingers and lovers of highbrow Art.

Up, up and away ...... Weekly Program
for all children aged 3 and 4 years
The children will explore creative drama and storytelling with creative movement, singing and music making.
WHEN: Commencing beginning of each school term and running during the school term. Wednesdays, 2pm to 3pm.
COST: $80 per school term, recommencing Term 1 2010 on 3rd February 2010.

Play Up at Burrinja - Weekly Program
for all primary aged students 5 to 9 years
Children are invited to explore their imaginations as they are
introduced to all of the creative arts. Non performanced based this
program is a great stepping stone to a structured drama class in the
future.
WHEN: Commencing at the beginning of each school term. Wednesdays, 4pm to 5pm.
COST: $80 per school term, recommencing Term 1 2010 on 3rd February 2010.

Rainbows and Sparkles ...... Weekly Program
A Community run creative artgroup for children aged between 2 and 4 years.
Activities are designed to engage and bond children with their parents
or care givers in a safe and fun environment. BYO morning tea shared
after the morning's session.
WHEN: Commencing beginning of each school term running during the school term. Thursdays, 10am to 11.30am.
COST: $55 per child per school term. Second child $25.00 per school term.

BURRINJA TROUPE 2009
Designed for those aged 10 plus Develop your performance skills and make some new friends along the way as you work towards presenting a short creative theatre piece. Previous experience not essential. Singing, Dancing and Drama - all in a 90 minute class.
Classes Wednesdays 5.15pm to 6.45pm. $120.00 per term.

Burrinja
Arts Shop is the collective idea of talented local artists who play
their diverse creativity within the studios at Burrinja and further
afield. Run and staffed by the artists themselves, it's a place where
studio artists of Burrinja and the Hills can sell their creative works
as part of an arts cooperative.
The
arts shop provides yet another great attraction for people visiting
Burrinja's many exhibitions, performances and cultural events and the
fabulous Burrinja café. It's open 7 days a week, and you get to meet
and talk to the artists who have made the work.
